No matter what our personal circumstances may be, if we ourselves become a source of light, then there will be no darkness in the world.SGI President Daisaku Ikeda
This is a quote that I tried to live as one of my motto of life. No matter what my circumstances are, instead of feeling drowned by it, I surround myself with people who can take me upwards.
Until now, I never felt that I am helpless or hopeless. I did have good times and challenging times but I never felt that I had no one to turn to. When I asked for help, I never had no one in my life. There was always someone there. I believe this was one of my fortune in life, having people around me, who believed in my potential more than I did.
Through their modelling and examples, I want to live in such way to become a source of light. Lighting their way and searching for their own light.
As someone once said “There’s no good or bad in life. It is our mind that we determine it was good or bad” and Nichiren Buddhism there is a concept called “changing poison into medicine.” Learning from both of these quotes, I have learn to see positive side of every experience. This doesn’t mean that I won’t get hurt or feel down. It means that no matter what happens I will rise again with a stronger conviction and trust in myself that I can become a better person.
Who will you light today?
