How to lift myself up?

Waking up this morning, I felt neither vibrant nor down. I just felt I wasn’t my usual self. I don’t wake up every morning looking forward for the day. In particularly during the winter, I had to make an effort to get myself out of the bed. I know it is my choice to get up this early morning or later in the day.

This morning, I woke up with sense of dragging myself to work. It doesn’t mean I wasn’t looking forward to work. Once I am on my desk, I know I can concentrate and enjoy my job. Perhaps, this travelling time is my preparation time to lift my mood.

I remember a determination shared by a woman. At different occasion, she shared her life with me and it was extraordinary what she had experienced through her life and she said:
“Everyday I woke up with an appreciation I have this life. I am still alive so I can contribute more to this society. Every morning I woke up to the sense of purpose of my life. I woke up to fulfill my mission in life.”
I remember the first time I heard this determination/statement from her. While I was very inspired by her, I thought “that’s very unreal to me. I probably will never achieve that feeling.”

While it is important to win, it’s even more important to remain undefeated no matter what happens.

I am determined to start a day with vibrant life force and remain so throughout the day, even my environment may not. If for any reason I am not that day, it is a sign from my heart warning me that it is time to show some care for myself.

I used to walk along the riverside during this time of the year, just before the sunrise and I reach my workplace as sun arose. I remember that feeling, everyday is a new day and I felt that I can do anything for the better world. Well, I didn’t do anything to make the world a better place to live but I was able to start a day with vibrant life force.

Research has shown the relationship of sunlight with psychological wellbeing. As the amount of sunlight decreases, number of individuals with depression increases. Probably this is an implication travelling before sunrise. As blue sky appear above, breathing in that blight blue energy, my mood lift up as well.

Whatever your circumstances, whatever your past, the forces that determine your future are nowhere but within your own heart and mind.

What have you determined with your heart today?
