How do you know whether its positive or negative?

I used to reflect on myself every night and beat myself up before I go sleep. Obviously, it impacted quality of my sleep, without a fail, I would woke up with this feeling of distress, powerless, and failure. I felt powerless because I didn’t know what to do or how to make up for it.

I gradually stopped doing that by taking responsibilities for any consequences based on my actions. For me, it was a big deal but for others, it was small things.

Do not allow negative thoughts to enter your mind for they are the weeds that strange confidence.

Bruce Lee

Through those dark times, I learnt to remember only the good things. That made me more to only see the good or positive things in the world rather than bad or negative things happening in the real world. For example, I have tendency to exclude distressing events such as conflict and war from my mind. I have realised that more I take them in, lower my life states goes. Probably, it is a learned behaviour but it was a strategy I used to survive.

Positive anything is better than negative nothing.

Elbert Hubbard

Recently, I was involved in a project and I was reading a transcript of an interview with one of the participants. Throughout the interview, this participants said that he/she only want to filter through positive things into her mind. So, his/her interview was based on how negative things are and how he/she only wants positives.

When I read this transcript, I remembered what one of my friend told me few months ago.
“Are you aware how often you used the word ‘positive’ or ‘negative’ in your life? What if you try not to use any of those words to judge or differentiate events? What if you did not use these words to describe events in life?”

Reading through that transcript made me realise how imbalanced I was in my perspectives of life. Yes. I am aware of the tendencies to only see the positive side of things, there always exist negatives.

When darkness arrived,

The light arrived too

After awhile

Because dark is inversely proportional to the light,

And the relationship between them is inseparable.

Suraiya Naaz

The eye is always caught on the light, but shadows have more to say.

Gregory Maguire

This reminds me of following quote.

Brighter the light, darker the shadow.

Carl Jung

If I can’t determine events in my life as positive or negative until the last moments of my life, it is too early to determine good or bad of that event at this given moment. Instead, I will learn from all events and converted to the sources to enrich my life.

Every positive value has its price in negative terms…

The genius of Einstein leads to Hiroshima.

Pablo Picasso

Which side are you standing on today?
Are you aware of implication of seeing only one side?
What have you chosen to see?
