What shall I read?

I love reading. However, I am very selective on what I read and which language, particularly bedtime readings. I love mysteries with a happy ending in my mother language. I enjoy reading stories. I think it is my hobby.

Reading is a way for me to expand my mind, open my eyes, and fill up my heart.

I believe something very magical can happen when you read a good book.

Few days ago, I’ve been suggested to read a book that is necessary to guide my research. My immediate reaction was to avoid reading it as long as I can. Part of me know that I need to read it to fully grasp its profound descriptions. Another part of me wanted to skip it.

I need to read a book called “Being and time” by Martin Heidegger. I tried to read it before, but gave up after trying for three nights. My supervisor said “it’s a good book for bedtime reading” and I replied “yes. I agree. It’s a great book to put me to sleep and I can’t even last for a page.” For me, it is a philosophy textbook without any illustration. Although it has been translated to English from German, it is still written in another language. It’s almost like I need to learn a new language to understand it. This doesn’t mean that if this book was translated or written in my mother language, I will have better understand it. It’s a philosophy book.

The worst mistake you can make is to give up on yourself and stop challenging yourself for fear of failure.

Keep moving forward with a firm eye on the future, telling yourself, “I’ll start from today!”

“I’ll start afresh from now, from this moment!”

My supervisor suggestion few critical sections to read. From there, a strategy I have employed is a section a time. When I started to read it this morning, I still felt it’s not a bedtime reading book because I really need to immerse in that reading. Actually, I was quite surprise this morning that I was able to read a section without too much extra effort.

A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies…

The man who never reads lives only one.

Alright. Now, I am determined to read “Being and Time” as much as can and allow it to take me to wherever it needs to take me to. I will embrace that journey as much as I can.

Are you a reader?
What are you reading to fill your heart?
Where is that book leading you to?
