How a book can change your life?

Are you a reader?
Do you know what genre you like to read?
I am selective about what I read. I wasn’t this selective when I was younger so I read anything that I could get my hands on to.

Have you read a book that changed your life?
I have several of those books that changed my life. Some of the book become my defining moments in my life that changed my perspectives of my life. Others challenged my perspectives about certain things.

A book is a gift you can open again and again.

Garrison Keillor

I had a chat with my supervisor about “Being and Time”, a philosophy text book that I choose to read for my research study. It started with her question: What if I didn’t come across this book? Would my life changed? Would I have different approach to research?
She explained to me that how much impact this book had on her in her early days as a researcher.

My response was “If there’s no coincidence in life, then, you meant to find it.”
For me, there’s no coincidence in why you pick that title out of millions of other titles. It is extraordinary for you to encounter such life changing book. Probably, they’ve arrived on your hands at right time in your life to commence reading.

A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies…

The man who never reads lives only one.

George R.R. Martin

Today a reader, tomorrow a leader.

Margaret Fuller

A great book should leave you with many experiences, and slightly exhausted at the end.

You live several lives while reading.

William Styron

I remember a most recent book that changed my life. I found it out of coincidence. It took me 20 minute to decide whether I will take it home because it wasn’t something I will usually pick. After reading it, I felt that I picked a right book. I was so happy that I found myself and I carried with me for a month. It made me feel that I am now grounded in my life.

What are you reading today?
What was the most recent book that changed your life?
What did that book bought to your life?
